Some proposed changes.
Well, one in particular.

It occurred to [livejournal.com profile] slytheringurrl and me that there really isn't any community (that we know of, at least) where people can post their WC women-centric stories. Sara has her own comm, but I don't think any of our other awesome ladies do (correct me if I'm wrong on this). So we were thinking that this comm might be a great place for that! To be clear, we'd continue to run promptfests and challenges a few times a year, but in between, people could post or link any fic centered on a female WC character on the comm as well.

What do y'all think about this?

I really like that idea! :) It would help get more traffic and interest for the comm between promptfests. I suggest allowing any kind of fanwork, too (art, vids, etc); it would give a way for people to participate who don't/can't participate in promptfests.

We're thrilled that you are approving! Im fine with vids and art and stuff, but I'm not sure what [livejournal.com profile] sahiya thinks about that... We are trying to make the comm more rounded, per sé, and as you said, this should make people more aware of the comm!!

I think we should definitely allow other types of artwork.

Do you want to add somewhere other than the profile that we accept art?? someone else asked me the same question and I think people are unsure of that. Just to make it clear, you know!

Yay! I think that's a very good idea. :D

I think that's a fantastic idea. I've often bemoaned finding a place to cross-post my women-centric stories. (Sara has her comm, yes, and there's [livejournal.com profile] onherdancecard, but the latter is just for femslash and, in a pinch, gen.)

Yay! Yea, I've noticed a lot more of Neal/Peter stuff and a lot of threesomes/slash/moresomes than women-centric fics and we'd all love to read them!

I am not a writer or anything but as a reader I think that is a great idea. There is the Sara comm and [livejournal.com profile] onherdancecard but there aren't any others that are for WC women centered stories. And I think I have found every WC comm there is by now. :)

I think it would be great for the writers and artists too. As some just do stories about some of the women characters. And as I think [livejournal.com profile] onherdancecard is more for femslash, it would be good to have a comm that is for gen stories too as well as slash that center on the women.

You probably already know this but you should promote this on the other WC comms. To get the word out and make more people aware of the comm.

Good luck with running the comm. :)

I think this idea is great, especially as you're allowing other media too (I love making artwork for this fandom, though I do hope that my fic writing will pick up again one day soon)!

Anyway, I think I mentioned the following idea to [livejournal.com profile] slytheringurrl, but thought I'd mention it again here. In another fandom's women comm, they did a challenge where you sign up to do a set number of fanworks during the year. Anyway, when I signed up for that challenge the last two years, I ended up producing more women-centric fanworks than I would have done if the challenge didn't exist.

If you did something like 10, 11 or 12 fanworks in a year, then most people could sign up to that, and because they have the whole year to do them in, it's less pressure. Some might do all of them within a couple of months, others might do one a month, others might fill them all at the last minute in December!

Um, if you want to see how it was done on that other comm, GO HERE, though obviously tailor it to this comm as you wish. That's assuming you like the idea - if not, no worries. I'll try and join in the multi-media challenges and remember to post anything women-centric that I might make anyway.

*hopes she's not treading on toes*

Thanks for the suggestions! IDK about the 'whole year' concept but maybe for 2014??

This sounds like a really fun idea - people could count stuff they write in fests and such toward their 12 things, so it might also drum up participation in comm events. No reason that I see that we have to wait a whole year to do it. Let me see how the other comm did it, but I bet we can make it work. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think its a great idea. Anything that makes it easier for people to find fanworks about women is good with me.
